I've never worked anywhere where someone could get away with an outburst like Castro's. I'm not sure how I feel about HQ now.

I watched the videos on SicFit.com last night after reading the serious buzz on RobbWolff.com and keep coming back to the advice ... constantly learn/improve/share in all the subjects and people will find you. Keep it up, Dutch! You are a shepherd/Coach of Coaches and we're grateful!

There is an obvious need for the BlackBox Summitt. I'm just mad and myself I missed this one :-)

Tania,
Thanks! I love CF as a community. I'm not so sure about CF as an orginizaiton anymore. We are not yet gym owners, but plan to one day. But I love the community and how most eveyone is willing to help each other out. We're watching our gym owners, and other gyms in the area and taking note of what we like/don't like. But it's nice to be able to hear others experiences as well. Tania I hope what you gleaned from the BBS gives your box a gret boost!

Angela, I was there and I came out with many stories and experiences from box owners that will help me manage my business. This is why I think the event was a success despite the conflict. However, I will say that the quality of content and presentation varied quite a bit from presenter to presenter. I almost felt bad for anyone having to speak right before or after James. I don't think that any of the speakers' presentations took away from CrossFit or the community that Coach Glassman created, and I also don't think that any of it warranted that kind of backlash from HQ. It makes me sad, because I love CrossFit and know that the sense of belonging to a larger community is important to what we do, and shouldn't be underestimated.

I was not there, but as to the question I would like to see if I was there or for future events.... I would like to see or hear personal stories/examples of what failed or what was a success in helping box owners successfully manage the business end of the box. I would like information on transitioning from a trainer into a gym owner, successfully. Also I would like information on opening a gym along side or in with a sports therapy facility, with SF CrossFit or other boxes owned by Therapists. What works, what doesn't?

All things aside regarding the conflict of the event, which is merely a distraction from the value of the training, the presenters, Dutch and Jeremy gave us more information in three days than digestible. There is no doubt that all the lives of those who presented have been impacted by CrossFit and the Glassmans, and it is was duly noted by them. With any organization that the body of knowledge is constantly changing, and several different opinions being formed, there will be conflict. Unfortunately, I have never seen anything different. But, I was there and there was nothing that I heard presented that degraded the value of what I know as CrossFit. Moreover, I felt like the information presented will be a great impact to our businesses, and is merely the next maturation in how we can use CrossFit and the newest most effective methodologies to achieve what we all want for our athletes, elite fitness!

Agreed. The weekend was phenomenal. The negatives were grossly overshadowed by the positives and I hope the Summit continues to grow and be shared with others.
