Competition anyone?

May 27, 2009

I talk about doing fun stuff between affiliates in my seminar and have finally come up with a way to make it happen. Let me know if ya’ll would be interested in this.

I want to post an affiliate challenge/competition each month. It would be totally scalable and easily scored. The size of your affiliate would be taken into account with the scoring.
One workout or test a month will be posted in the first of the month. The results don’t need to be submitted until the last day of the month. This gives the affiliate owner or coach the opportunity to show their programming genius. It would also give your clients a bigger purpose and help bring them together as a team.
The winner each month will get a small prize to post on their site for the month. The prize will shift to the next winner at the end of each month.
There will be a dedicated page where affiliates can post their progress and thoughts throughout the month.
I will post my scores as well so there is something to shoot for.

I think i can make an individuals category so even the garage gym crossfitters can play. The winners will be featured on my blog.

Anyone interested?

I am in! thesolo garage gym guy

    Hey Dutch,

How do you balance training when you feel like it (this sounds a little harsh, but I think you know what I mean) and sticking to a program or periodization?

    Thanks,

    Pat

    Pat,
I think feel is a good indicator of when you should train. I hope i am understanding your question so here goes the answer:
My overall program is set on a macro scale. I know what i want to accomplish and have a semi clear plan on how to get there. The day to day training is inconsequential when you look at it like this. I am trying to get as many quality training sessions as possible to get me closer to my goals. If i have a couple days off here and there it doesn’t derail me too much from the overarchng goals.
    Is that clear?

I’m in, and I’m pretty sure the “garage-crew” that I train with would be up for it too. It sounds like a great idea.

Oooh, we’d love to participate. Great idea! Our membership has really taken off in the last month and I’d love to give some of our ‘crossfit addicts’ some extra motivation.

side note: Dutch, not sure if you remember William and me from your first training semimar at GSX but it really impacted us and was instrumental in our growth. We have since moved out of our garage to a 1500 sq. foot space. Our clients are crazy addicted and email us to say we’ve changed their lives forever. It’s awesome! Please know that we’re cheering you on from Georgetown and would LOVE it if you’d care to visit us when you’re in the area. We might have to print up some “CFG (crossfit georgetown) *hearts* Dutch” shirts to support you in the games. :)

I run a club affiliate at the University of Pittsburgh, and we would definitely be into something like this.

Count us in. All 14 of us at CrossFit CFT. We currently run our affiliate out of our garage but we are in the process of moving to a 1500 sq ft industrial spot.
