Plans?

In my seminar i talk about having a plan when creating workouts.  I feel this is very important.  If you don’t have an idea of what you want people to get out each and every workout then you don’t have an idea of what you are doing for their fitness.

This is wonderful so long as the plan goes right…  What happens when it goes wrong??  Well as a trainer it really depends how wrong it goes.  I have been the creator of some beastly workouts that have gone seriously wrong.  For example i created a workout consisting of thrusters, pullups, and box jumps.  The poor guys i was training barely made it through the first round before they just about passed out.  It only took them 10 minutes…  Did i underestimate their abilities, probably.  Did i underestimate the stimulus, probably.  What did we do to rememdy the poor programming?  Well thats pretty easy, I called it off after round 1.

My point is sometimes things don’t go as planned.  Be humble enough to admit your mistake and don’t kill anyone!

My next seminar in Chicago is approaching and getting close to capacity.  Make sure you are in before it is too late.  We are sure to have some special guests so you better come check it out!
